Oranges, Kate Headley

Kate Headley's wedding photographs are all over my blog, weddings blogs, Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine and other local and national wedding publications.  At the moment she is less know for her editorial work.  Recently she launched an editorial section to her blog separate from the wedding section, check it out– We were fortunate to enjoy Kate's company for a casual lunch a few weeks ago–  she came with camera in hand so in addition to a visit we got photos.  Enjoying this  series of orange images... and enjoying eating lots of citrus which is at it's best right now!

Flower Today at 1508

This February we are doing more cooking than flowers, looking ahead at the spring  calendar I know this balance will shift. Today there are some gorgeous blooms around here that returned from a photo shoot, others that are for a sample for a large June event.

John shot these this morning and wanted to share...

Birthday– Wednesday, February 1

-Salsify from Path Valley Cooperative, Pennsylvania

We were thrilled to host a birthday celebration for a friend of ours we met years ago at our former restaurant, Ruppert's. American wines were requested, not usually the origin of wines at our table. Tom, the wine importer who we count on to help us match food and wine did an outstanding job as always.  We enjoyed tasting wines that were all new to 1508.

Design Army, One Show

I have known Pum and Jake of Design Army for years, am a huge fan of their work, am indebted to them for my website, appreciate their unique perspective and always jump at the chance to collaborate on any project with them.  When asked if I would be part of their team, helping with flowers and plants, for a promotion of One Club'sOne Show competition the answer was immediately yes!  Here is the result–  once again I am inspired by their creativity, attention to detail and energy.

Congratulations on the Book Maria and Kelly!

My friends and colleagues Maria and Kelly of Ritzy Bee recently finished a new wedding book for Southern Living.  Rumor has it there is one advance copy floating around The Hive and it is gorgeous but I have not seen it yet!  The Southern Living Wedding Planner and Keepsake: What to do before saying "I do" will be available to all of us on January 3 next year at bookstores and through Amazon.  With their radiance and knowing that all of the photos were taken by Kate Headley I cannot wait to see it!!  In the meantime you can sneak a peek on a recent Ritzy Bee blog post. Congratulations!!

Backyard Wedding May 2011

The wedding was at the brides parents home who are avid gardeners.  We chose flowers that were growing in the garden at the time...peonies, garden roses, mock orange, hydrangea...all from local sources...including roses, peonies and hydrangea from my backyard.  The garden was created by the brides grandmother and many of the vases we used were passed along from her as well.  Thank you to Jennifer Domenick, Love Life Images for capturing the overall feeling and the details in these photos.

A favor turns into the present of photographs, thanks Naz!

A talented photographer friend of ours, Malek Naz Freidouni, asked if she could photograph our daughter Martin-Lane for her portfolio.  Martin-Lane said she was up for it.  We set up the shoot for a Sunday morning and Naz promised she would work quickly, which she did. The photos are awesome, this is one of my favorites and it seems to be appropriate today with so many cherry blossom petals just beginning to fall– taken in the room where the Home Restaurants happen.  Check out more of her work on her website.
