Basil and Peony Candle #3
Candle #3 is Basil and Peony. This candle is floral forward. To me it smells like an early summer garden in full bloom.
I am burning the Basil Peony in my bathrooms and bedroom. I also look forward to taking it in the garden this spring to burn while eating and working outside. For me it is a little too flowery for the kitchen but it is still on the lighter side as far as candles go so you be the judge.
I feel very fortunate to have connected with the candle makers of The Grown Collective in rural Virginia .They are incredibly patient, collaborating with us to perfect scents. They also make their own beautiful concrete vessels that can be re-purposed for other uses after the candle is burnt.
In addition to the Basil Peony we have a Lemon Verbena Candle which is very light and fresh and a Thyme Black Pepper Candle which is earthy and spicy.
October 2020
All my 2020 weddings downsized, cancelled or postponed. This wedding shifted from hotel ballroom to open air, floor plan shifted to accommodate social distancing and pods, guests wore face masks and many wore shields as well… every possible precaution was taken and these friends of mine got to celebrate their wedding with in person and guests attending online. It was joyful and heartfelt and fun to do big flowers. The Salamander was the perfect setting and it was the height of the dahlia season and many of the blooms were sourced from nearby LynnVale Studios. With the last minute shifts the vendor team worked together seamlessly led by Aimee Dominick. Amazing collaboration- Elisa Bricker, Social Supply, Frost Lighting, Sugarplum Tents and La Tavola Linen.
The Coffee Cup
The last year gave us time to pursue projects that we have talked about but always put aside. One of these projects was collaborating with an artist to make ceramics for use in our everyday lives and to share with others. We connected with a fabulous potter, Lev. Together we conceived a coffee cup based on a small handle-less croc that has been our personal go to coffee mug for years. The results are even better than I had imagined. Let me know if you want one or some.
Next up we are plotting a plate/bowl that we have been dreaming of for a long time and oversized votive holders…
